The Concordia University of Irvine Music Department invites you to our Double Reed Day! This free event will feature a chamber music concert, reed making masterclasses, and an exhibition filled with double reed vendors. 

DOUBLE REED ENSEMBLE PERFORMANCE

Featuring oboes, English horns, bassoons, and contra, this recital will have you experience double reeds in a new way!

SESSION #1 : INTRO TO REED MAKING

A lecture format masterclass demonstrating the reed making process.

SESSION #2 : REED MAKING & FINISHING

A hands-on masterclass with reed making tools, including knives. Oboists will learn how to scrape and adjust a reed, and bassoonists will learn how to wire, turban and cut the tip to finish the reed.

VENDOR EXHIBITION

Meet some of the best double reed vendors in the industry! The exhibition will feature RDG Woodwindsand Angela Wells from The Reedery.

SINFONIETTA CONCERT

Hear Concordia's orchestra perform a pops program of movie themes.
